Who are Software Quality Lab Academy training courses designed for?

Our training courses are designed for professionals and leaders in software development who want to strengthen their methodological expertise. This includes software developers, testers, architects, requirements engineers, project managers and other specialists working in modern software development.

Which topics do the training courses cover?

The training portfolio includes requirements engineering, architecture & modeling, testing & test automation, secure engineering, AI & security governance, as well as product and project management. This means the Academy covers key methodological fields in software quality engineering and software quality management.

Which training formats are offered?

You can choose between classroom training, live online seminars, in-house training for teams and e-learning courses. The Academy explicitly offers its accredited course content in different formats and with or without an exam.

Are training courses available both on-site and online?

Yes. On the seminar dates page, you can specifically filter for classroom seminars and online seminars. The website lists training locations such as Linz, Vienna, Graz, Munich, Nuremberg and Live Online.

In which languages are the seminar offered?

In the seminar search, you can filter by German and English. E-learning courses and certification seminars are also offered in both languages.

How can I find the right seminar date?

Using the seminar search, you can filter by seminar type, location, category, language and time period. This helps you quickly find the right date for your desired training course.

How large is the course portfolio?

The website describes the Academy as a provider of more than 80 training courses in software quality engineering. The portfolio ranges from classic certification preparation courses to additional specialist topics.

What is the difference between a live-online seminar and e-learning?

A live online seminar takes place in real time with a trainer. According to the website, e-learning courses consist of recorded video units without direct trainer interaction and can be completed flexibly.

In-house Training for Companies

Does Software Quality Lab Academy offer in-house training?

Yes. All central training courses and seminars in software quality are also available as in-house training for companies. These can be adapted to the needs of individual teams and organizations.

What are the advantages of an in-house seminar?

In-house training offers flexible scheduling, lower travel and accommodation costs for employees, and more room for company-specific questions. Current projects and concrete business challenges can also be incorporated more effectively.

From how many participants does in-house training make sense?

In-house training is often more cost-effective than several individual bookings in public seminars from around five participants onward. This makes it especially attractive for teams and departments.

Can the content be tailored individually?

Yes. The in-house page explicitly mentions the possibility of adapting topic focus, training duration and exercise share. Workshops with a stronger project focus are also possible.

Can external participants join an in-house seminar?

According to the terms and conditions, in-house events are generally intended only for employees of the client company. If other persons participate, the regular participant price of a public seminar may be charged in addition. Reselling of seminar seats is not permitted.

Exams and certification

Which certifications are supported by training courses?

The website particularly refers to IREB® CPRE, iSAQB® CPSA, ISTQB® Certified Tester and ICAgile®. In addition, it offers further thematic training in the broader field of software quality engineering.

Can I book a seminar with or without an exam?

Yes. The course content is available with or without an exam. This gives you flexibility when selecting the right learning format.

How do I receive my exam voucher?

When you purchase an exam, you receive a voucher that can be redeemed with an external exam provider. If you book the exam together with a live seminar or e-learning course, the relevant information is usually sent by email.

How long is an exam voucher valid?

According to the terms and conditions, each voucher is valid for 12 months.

Can an exam voucher be extended?

An extension is only possible in urgent cases. According to the terms and conditions, an administrative fee of 50 euros is charged for an extension.

How do I schedule my exam date?

For live seminars and e-learning, you arrange your individual exam date directly with the exam provider using the link provided. Depending on the exam, you may also be able to choose between an online or on-site exam.

Can I take the exam online?

Yes, provided that this option is offered by the respective exam provider. The exams page describes both online and on-site options.

What are the requirements for an online exam?

Online exams generally require a quiet workspace (closed room), a computer with webcam and microphone, a stable internet connection, valid identification and a compatible browser. Additional requirements may apply for individual exams.

Booking, Prices and Organizational Process

How can I book a seminar?

Seminars can be booked directly via the website. In addition, according to the terms and conditions, written registration by letter or email is also possible.

Are the listed prices including VAT?

No. According to the terms and conditions, prices are generally stated excluding statutory VAT. The VAT rate is calculated during the checkout process and depends on your location and the location of the seminar. 

What is included in the seminar price?

According to the terms and conditions, the seminar price generally includes participation, training materials, refreshments and lunch. For public events, room rental and necessary event equipment are also included.

What is not included in the seminar price?

According to the terms and conditions, third-party certification fees, travel costs, accommodation and other personal expenses are generally not included unless otherwise stated in the event description.

When is the invoice due?

According to the terms and conditions, invoiced amounts are due within 14 days from the invoice date, but no later than three working days before the start of the event.

Can I cancel my participation?

Yes. For public seminars, the terms and conditions define staggered cancellation fees. Up to eight weeks before the event, there is no cancellation fee; up to four weeks, 20 percent; up to two weeks, 50 percent; and after that, 100 percent of the participation fee.

Can I reschedule to another date?

Yes, rescheduling is possible if agreed with the organizer. According to the terms and conditions, the full seminar fee plus an additional 20 percent rescheduling fee is charged, and the rescheduled date can no longer be canceled.

Can another person attend in my place?

Yes. According to the terms and conditions, a substitute participant can be nominated if the original participant is unable to attend. This applies to both public seminars and in-house seminars before the start of the event.

What happens if a seminar is cancelled by the organizer?

If an event is canceled by the organizer, the terms and conditions provide for a full refund of any participation fees already paid. Further claims are excluded there.

What happens if the date or location changes?

The terms and conditions distinguish according to the extent of the change. In the event of major scheduling or location changes, there may be an entitlement to a reduction to a cheaper online list price (e.g., early bird) or a 15 percent price reduction or to a voucher equal to the seminar fee already paid.

E-Learning, Technology and Access

How long do I have access to an e-learning?

According to the terms and conditions, access to course materials and videos is provided for four months or 120 days from receipt of the access credentials.

Can I share my e-learning access with others?

No. The terms and conditions make clear that the service and its contents are intended exclusively licensed for personal, non-commercial use and may not be shared with other persons.

What internet connection is recommended for e-learning?

The terms and conditions state a minimum speed of 3.0 Mbps per stream for HD, recommend at least 5.0 Mbps for Full HD and at least 15.0 Mbps for Ultra HD.

Can I get financial assistance for my training?

As a training provider recognized by Ö-Cert, the courses offered by the Software Quality Lab Academy are eligible for funding from AMS Austria (the Austrian Public Employment Service). In addition, companies can apply for funding for exclusive in-house training courses through the ÖSB.
